About Your Service

What to Do in an Outage

When fast-moving storms cross Warren Electric Co-op service areas, high winds, lightning, snow, ice and falling trees can cause unpredictable interruptions to your electric service. To ensure that you experience minimal inconvenience if a summer storm does interrupt your electric service, Warren Electric Co-op recommends that you take the following precautionary measures:

  • Keep a battery-powered radio, flashlight and plenty of fresh batteries on hand where you can find them in the dark.

  • Avoid using candles, because mishandled or unattended candles could cause a fire at a time when all fire safety resources maybe strained.

  • Keep a radio or light plugged in and turned on so you will know when the power is restored.

  • Have some bottled water on hand, because with no power your water supply could stop if you have no power for your well pump.

  • A fully loaded freezer can keep food cold for 36 to 48 hours if the door remains closed. Refrigerated foods spoil faster and may only be safe if used within a few hours.

  • If power stays off for more than a few minutes, please call Warren Electric Cooperative toll-free at 1-800-364-8640. For after hours emergency service, call (814) 723-9460.
